Colosse lay about one hundred miles east of Ephesus and about twelve miles from Laodicea and Hierapolis, its more important neighbours (4:13). It is unlikely that Paul had ever been to Colosse (2:1) and it seems that it was Epaphras who founded the church there (1:7).
